How Membership Works The Bach D&D Society is a registered non-profit organization, partially supported through memberships, donations and co-sponsorships. We are not a private “society.” As part of our charter to support the musical arts, we need attendance by the public. Although you do not have to be a Member to attend our programs, one of the advantages of becoming a Member is that you can make advance reservations for up to four people and receive priority seating. Additional seats can be reserved, but depending on the popularity of the performance, we can only guarantee that four will be seated together. Yearly membership for one person costs $250 and begins the month that you join. A Member also receives four complimentary tickets to any performance and a $130 tax deduction. Contributors who donate an additional $200, may request specific seats in the concert room. To become a member, it is preferred that you mail the membership application with a $250 check payable to the Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society to PO Box 302, El Granada, CA 94018. You can also join by emailing your name/address and Visa or Mastercard information or by calling 650 726-2020. You can reserve seats for any concerts at that time. You will receive your tickets, receipt and membership card in the mail. Memberships are also taken at the door on concert Sundays and you can use any of your complimentary tickets. The remaining tickets, if any, will be mailed to you with your receipt. Members are encouraged to email their reservation requests. Email reservations are taken until 7 pm on the Saturday before the Sunday performance. You will receive a confirming email. We generally do not confirm phone reservations, and if you have talked to Mr. Douglas to reserve your seats, it is suggested that you follow up with an email if possible. Also, if you decide to attend at the last minute on Sunday, a limited number of extra saved Member seats are usually available, depending on the popularity of the show. Payment in advance is not required. Therefore, it is important that you call (650 726-4143) as late as Sunday morning if you cannot attend or are running late. Unclaimed seats are released after the music starts at 4:30. Non-members can make reservations online at Brown Paper Tickets. See calendar page links at the end of each performance description. Seating is open, so come as early as 3 pm to choose a guaranteed seat. On rare occasions when the concert room is, discounted seats are made available on the inside deck with access to standing room inside. We thank our Members, Endowment Supporters and Co-Sponsors for their generous support. As a result of your donations and attendance, we have been able to enrich our musical programming and continue the legacy of outstanding musicianship in an intimate friendly environment. Be a Co-sponsor Co-Sponsors contribute $1,000 or more (depending on cost of talent) toward any booked performance. Co-Sponsors receive reserved priority seating for eight people, a reserved table in the House, acknowledgement in our promotional and website locations, plus an opportunity to meet the artists if available. Co-sponsorship is an immensely significant way of helping us continue presenting high-caliber artistry. Approximately 80% is a tax-deductible contribution. For more information visit our co-sponsors page and letter to potential co-sponsors. Continue the Musical Legacy Why, you may ask, is it really necessary to carry on the musical legacy of the Bach Society and Douglas Beach House when one could eventually hear the same talent in other venues throughout the country? Perhaps it's because in tomorrow's music market it will be increasingly difficult for people to hear, see or even afford certain live music in conditions that maximize the musical value. Music is not just a product for sale. It is what culturally sustains our emotional life. A legacy should continue existing efforts to seek and experience musical authenticity, not kitsch, in music making.
