Dan Hicks - A Salute to the Jazz Singers last performed at the Bach on January 26, 2014.

Dan HicksBacked by piano, guitar, bass and drums, Bay Area singer/songwriter Dan Hicks vocalizes the great jazz vocalists Blossom Dearie, Louis Jordan, Dave Frishberg, Mark Murphy, Anita O’Day and Nat "King" Cole, among others in his uniquely hip style.

Throughout his decades-long career, Dan Hicks stood as one of contemporary music's true eccentrics. While steeped in folk, his acoustic sound knew few musical boundaries, drawing on country, call-and-response vocals, jazz phrasing, and no small amount of humor to create a distinctive, albeit sporadic, body of work that earned him a devoted cult following. About Bayside Jazz, his side project to the Hot Licks, "It's a style with plenty of room, and I've been wanting to do this as a separate endeavor for quite some time. And don't be surprised if you hear some new lyrics here and there in these songs.

Dan Hicks - vocals, Paul Robinson - guitar, Brian Cooke - piano, Brian Simpson - drums
