Ed Reed and His Quartet last performed at the Bach on May 4, 2014.

"The Bay Area’s Ed Reed, who made his recording debut at 77, seems to be just hitting his stride at 84; his singing has only grown stronger and more confident with age. Reed’s story is the ultimate second act." -Downbeat. Reed’s is the voice of experience and hard-won wisdom.  After decades of drug addiction and repeated incarcerations at San Quentin, he has risen to become a critically acclaimed jazz singer. Reed enjoyed a release party at Yoshi's Oakland in Nov 2013, guest appearance on Marian McPartland's iconic NPR "Piano Jazz" radio show in 2008; a profile by Nat Hentoff in the Wall Street Journal in June 2009; and placement as Male Vocalist Rising Star category of the Downbeat Critic's Poll in five out of the last six years.  We're looking forward to the real deal.

Ed Reed - vocals; Randy Porter- piano; John Wiitala - bass; Anton Schwartz – sax; Akira Tana – drums
